The aim of the project What Fishermen Know is to protect and valorize the fishing tradition of Fažana. The long-term objective is to promote sustainable development of fisheries, increase competitiveness of fishermen and connect them with local restaurants, transfer knowledge and skills to younger generations and raise awareness regarding the environmental concerns. Through project activities young people, local population and tourists acquire specific knowledge and skills related to fishing. At the same time the consumption of blue fish as an extremely valuable source of nutrients is encouraged, preparing it both on traditional and modern ways.
The visibility of the project is guaranteed through the project leader’s website, social networks, TV and radio spots, TV coverage, event calendars and printed materials.
The main project leader is the Tourist Board of the Municipality of Fažana while the partners in the project are the Tourist Board of the Municipality of Ližnjan and the Sailing Club “Brioni”.
The total value of the project amounts to HRK 164,180.78, of which HRK 131,792.45 is financed by the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund.
The project implementation period is from April 2022 to October 2022.
